RAWAN NAMNGANI is a filmmaker from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and among the country’s first graduating class with a bachelor degree in Film Production. She was selected as a 2018 Berlinale Talents Alumna, 2018 Talents Beirut Alumna both as a cinematographer in the Camera Studio. She became the first female director of photography for a feature film in Saudi Arabia, shooting The Great Muse, and a multi international award winning short film The Girls Who Burned the Night. Since 2018, she has been working full time in the commercial industry at a leading creative and production studio in Saudi Arabia, working in Creative Content Development and Editing with many of the top clients in the country. Rawan took the opportunity in her Art Residency with Misk Art Institute in partnership with Berlin Art Institute to seek her interest in analog photography, darkroom printing and alternative processing. She’s now self investing to maximize the experiments and to produce her first art work.
